Do people still do these? I have no idea. The last one I did was years ago, but I feel like talking about Astrid's feelings about people, so here goes.
Comment with a character and I'll talk about what Astrid thinks of them! This goes for any game she's in.And if you'd like to talk about what they think of her I'd be super excited but it is not obligatory.
Also, open forever, so if you end up interacting with Astrid and stumble upon this post, go for it.

Date: 2014-11-14 10:47 am (UTC)Okay you kind of get an essay of your own, becaaause Astrid has lots of feelings about Alison. Alison was basically Astrid's first out-of-canon friend upon her return to camp, and the reason that happened so quickly is because Alison demonstrated a concern for Hiccup. Astrid had just encountered tiny Hiccup herself, and that was weird, and he had been there without her -- but then there's this mom who has been there and is worrying over him too, and that's reassuring to her. She very much appreciates Alison caring about his well being, even if she may take it a bit far at times. And that's how that started!
And then they started to talk more, and Astrid began to appreciate her for her willingness to listen. You see, way back when, Astrid never used to confide in anyone. Then she started dating Hiccup, and over time became comfortable confiding in him -- but he was really the only one she talked with like that. And then she got to camp, and she didn't have that anymore, because this is tiny!Hiccup and he's very awkward with her and they never established that rapport. This is compounded by the fact that many of her current issues are about him and are things he can't know about. So, she's been very frustrated and doesn't have the only outlet that she's used to and Alison was kind of... offering to be one. And so she unloaded some of her worries on her -- on some occasions, way more than she was intending to. And she feels really bad about that! Astrid feels she should be able to deal with all her problems on her own, and though it was a relief to be able to share it with someone else, so that she wouldn't be the only one who knew about certain things... she thinks she probably should have just kept it to herself. But it's too late for that now! Alison knows, and she doesn't seem to hold it against her, and Astrid's grateful for that. She's also way less likely to get annoyed or abrasive with Alison, simply because she feels she owes her, and owing someone is an important thing to Astrid. (It doesn't happen often, haha!)
Recently, she's also been really pleased by Alison's steps forward regarding dragons. She sympathizes with her fear, because she'd been there, once -- especially on her disaster of a first flight -- but she believes Alison's trying, especially considering the intensity of her fear. She was very impressed by Alison's willingness to let her call Stormfly to get them out of the woods. That was totally unexpected. And yes, she'll keep gently pushing the issue, not just because she thinks it will benefit the dragons, but because she thinks it would make things easier for Alison, too. But as far as she sees it, things are going well (even if Alison thinks otherwise!).
She knows Alison has secrets, and she gets the impression that they are not only Big but Interesting ones. And she's curious! But Astrid is really not the type to pry into someone's personal matters, unless they concern her or Hiccup and the dragons (and even then, all it took was Alison telling her to stop asking for her to stop). And combine that with the already described feeling of owing Alison... she's not going to be a snoop. She's asked too much of her already.
But yep, if Alison ever needs anything, Astrid would be happy to help her -- and Stormfly would too, haha. And they need to have that cooking lesson!

Date: 2014-11-15 07:58 pm (UTC)Alison likes Astrid because she seems to be a very sensible young woman with a good head on her shoulders, minus the whole "dragon-riding" thing because. Dragons. And likewise, even though the situation is weird, she's glad there's someone in Camp that is kind of "responsible" for Hiccup because she's convinced that child is going to successfully blow himself up one day. In reality she's kind of "I WISH I DIDN'T KNOW" about the stuff Astrid confides in her because she has enough terrible things going on in her life and she's kind of self-absorbed in that way, but she's also been in a situation where she had no one to talk to or confide in about genuinely distressing things, so she'll semi-reluctantly continue to lend an ear while looking totally willing on the outside, haha.
She will never be completely okay with dragons. But maybe she'll make some snacks for Stormfly because at least she's not trying to set Alison on fire and she would like to maintain that pattern :<b And she will never tell Astrid her secrets EVER unless Camp outs her because her secrets are terrible and she doesn't want anyone knowing she is what she considers a horrible "imitation" of a human being. But yes on cooking lessons! Alison needs a distraction right now anyway, sob.
